IGCSE Maths Tutors
Pearson Edexcel and Cambridge International – two systems that look similar and assess very differently.
Trial lessons are 50% off the normal rate.
Math Wizard teaches International GCSE maths on Pearson Edexcel 4MA1 and Cambridge IGCSE 0580 and 0607. The differences matter: Edexcel 4MA1 is two papers of two hours and 100 marks with a calculator permitted on every paper, graded 9–1. Cambridge 0580 is graded A*–G with separate Core and Extended tiers, and Cambridge 0607 includes an Investigation paper and requires a graphic display calculator. Lessons cost £60–£80 per hour, online across the UK or in person.
How Is IGCSE Maths Different From GCSE?
Edexcel 4MA1 has no non-calculator paper
Two papers, two hours, 100 marks each – and a calculator is permitted on both. A student moving from UK GCSE, where a third of the assessment is non-calculator, is preparing for a different exam entirely.
Cambridge 0580 is graded A*–G
Not 9–1. Core tier is two papers of 1h30 and 80 marks, accessing grades C–G; Extended is two papers of two hours and 100 marks, accessing A*–E. The tier choice caps the grade.
Cambridge 0607 needs a graphic display calculator
It is a requirement of the course, not an optional extra, and it also carries an Investigation paper worth 20% – a piece of assessment with no equivalent on any other IGCSE.
They are not interchangeable with UK GCSE
The maths overlaps heavily; the assessment does not. UK GCSE past papers are useful topic practice for an IGCSE student and misleading as timing or format practice.
Not sure which IGCSE your child is actually sitting?
0580 and 0607 are different courses with different equipment requirements, and 4MA1 is different again. The first lesson establishes exactly which one and works from its real papers. Half price, no commitment.

Who Sits IGCSE Maths in the UK?
Mostly students at independent schools that chose the international qualification, and students who have moved to the UK partway through their schooling from an international school abroad.
That second group is the one that most often needs help, and usually not because the maths is beyond them. A student arriving mid-course has met the topics in a different order, on a different specification, sometimes in a different language of instruction – and the gap is one of sequencing rather than ability.
Who teaches your lessons
A maths specialist – someone who teaches maths and no other subject, works from the same worksheets you can read on this site, and follows the same method with every student.
You are told exactly who your tutor is before the first lesson, never after. That lesson is half price, with no contract, so if the match is not right you have lost one half-price hour and nothing else.
Fees

Where these facts come from
Every paper structure, mark total, timing and grade scale on this page was checked against the awarding body’s own published specification. Those documents are free, and they are the only source that is definitive – if anything here ever disagrees with one of them, the specification is right and this page is wrong.
- Pearson Edexcel – GCSE (9-1) Mathematics 1MA1 specification
Specifications are revised from time to time. Where a course has changed – the 2023 revision to National 5 and Higher, for example – this site follows the current version, which a good deal of older revision material still does not.
