Math Wizard is a maths-only tutoring service covering the whole United Kingdom: GCSE and A Level in England and Wales, SQA National 5, Higher and Advanced Higher in Scotland, and CCEA GCSE in Northern Ireland, alongside IGCSE, IB Mathematics and first-year university maths. Every tutor teaches maths and no other subject. 1-to-1 tuition costs £60–£80 per hour and small group classes £40 per student per hour, for groups of five or six, online anywhere in the UK or in person in 17 cities.
What Math Wizard Teaches
Maths only – no other subjects – so every lesson goes deeper into exactly the specification a student is sitting, on their own exam board.
GCSE Maths
AQA, Pearson Edexcel, OCR and WJEC Eduqas, Foundation and Higher tier. The boards differ in ways that cost marks – OCR’s non-calculator paper is Paper 2, not Paper 1 – so lessons follow the board a student is actually entered for.
A Level and Further Maths
AQA, Pearson Edexcel and OCR – Pure, Mechanics and Statistics – plus A Level Further Maths for students taking both.
Scottish qualifications
SQA National 5, Higher and Advanced Higher Maths. Scotland does not sit GCSE or A Level, and these are taught as the SQA courses they are, not an English syllabus renamed.
Northern Ireland
CCEA GCSE and A Level Maths, on the CCEA specification.
International qualifications
IGCSE Maths (Pearson Edexcel and Cambridge International) and IB Mathematics – all four courses, Analysis and Approaches and Applications and Interpretation, at both Higher and Standard Level, including Internal Assessment support.
University-level maths
First-year undergraduate calculus, linear algebra and analysis, and maths for students on engineering, economics and science courses.

Four Reasons Bright Students Lose Marks in Maths
Almost every student who arrives here is losing marks for one of these reasons, and almost none of them is “not good at maths”.
They guess their way to the answer
Trial and error gets a student through homework and falls apart in an exam. Every step in maths needs a reason behind it – and a student who can say why they did something can do it again on a question they have never seen.
They have never seen enough real papers
A student needs to have done enough genuine past papers to know what the exam actually looks like – and enough of them marked properly that their grade can be predicted rather than hoped for.
They are aiming at a grade boundary
Boundaries move every year. Target a percentage instead, with enough margin above the grade you want, and the grade is still there even in a year the boundaries rise.
They are being taught the wrong exam
A tutor who teaches “GCSE” generically will miss that OCR’s non-calculator paper is Paper 2, or that a Scottish student is sitting Higher and not A Level at all. Marks are lost on the format long before the maths.

In-Person Maths Tutors in 17 UK Cities
A tutor who comes to the student’s own desk – and the same lessons online everywhere else in the UK, at the same price.
What an in-person lesson looks like. Everything is worked through on iPad, exactly as it would be online, and whatever is written during the session is sent to the student afterwards. Sessions are an hour, and a parent doesn’t need to be in the room.
The honest difference from online. Being in the room means more control over what a student is actually doing during the lesson. That is the real advantage of an in-person visit – not any change in how the maths itself gets taught.
The right qualification for where you live. A student in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Aberdeen or Dundee is taught National 5, Higher or Advanced Higher. A student in Cardiff or Swansea is taught the WJEC Eduqas specification. A student in Belfast is taught CCEA. It matters, and it is not a detail every national tutoring service gets right.
Scheduling that moves with real life. Day and time can change at a parent’s request rather than being locked to a fixed weekly slot, with 12 hours’ notice to reschedule. Frequency naturally increases before exams and eases off over the school holidays.

Who teaches your lessons
A maths specialist – someone who teaches maths and no other subject, works from the same worksheets you can read on this site, and follows the same method with every student.
You are told exactly who your tutor is before the first lesson, never after. That lesson is half price, with no contract, so if the match is not right you have lost one half-price hour and nothing else.
How Math Wizard Teaches
Diagnostic first. Every student starts with a short diagnostic to find their real level, and whether the gap is conceptual, exam technique, or confidence.
A plan built around them. Each plan follows the student's own syllabus, goals and timeline, broken into milestones that are actually achievable.
Concepts before complexity. Foundations are secured before moving on to harder problems, so nothing is built on a shaky base.
Solve first, review together. Students attempt questions on their own first; mistakes are then worked through together, so they learn to think a problem through rather than just copy a method.
Adaptive to how each student learns. Teaching adapts to the student, including support for ADHD, autism and other learning differences.
Fully digital lessons. Explanations are worked through on iPad, with digital notes shared after every session. Online lessons run over Zoom or Google Meet; in-person lessons work exactly the same way.
